NHRI Course 2013 - Economic, Social and Cultural Rights

This is course designed by the Danish Instiute for Human Rights' education department for National Human Rights Institutions in Africa. The main objective of the course is to enhance NHRIs capacity of working with economic, social and cultural rights.

The course runs from 7 - 18 October 2013.

The application form is available here. The form is to be filled in by the applicant and sent to DIHR - crs(at)humanrights.dk.

 

The deadline to submit the form is 20 August 2013.

 

Selection of course participants will be carried out by the Danish Institute for Human Rights and based on incoming applications. Participants will be selected based on their diversity in the group.

Learning objectives

The objective of the course is to enhance participantsí knowledge and skills in working with economic, social and cultural rights from a National Human Rights Institution (NHRI) perspective. By the end of the course, participants should be able to:

  • View human rights education as a right and as a process for achieving/claiming other rights;
  • Focus on the importance of human rights education in the context of economic, social and cultural rights;
  • Discuss and learn from each other about how NHRIs can work and have been working with economic, social and cultural rights;
  • Be able to discuss economic, social and cultural rights in the context of their own work.
